It’s amazing how fast they grow. Elke has grown almost 6″ in height since may. I have to say I can’t get enough of the baby feet too.

he’s so cute! I always think boy babies have so much more going on in their head – girls are always smiling – and the boys are always thinking, and he’s no different!

Beautiful! So well written. I think the exact same things sometimes yet it is so hard to get out into words. Creating and sustaining a living human being may not be the most glamourous life but it is very, very rewarding.

I love the clash too. I’m pretty envious of your ability to find time to spin. I haven’t touched my wheel in months but hopefully in a few mos Elke will sleep a bit longer and I can make the time.

And what a cool creation it is! Bravo!

I once fumed when I woman called me “quaint” for knitting in a coffee shop. I got over when I realized it was her loss that she didn’t understand all that went into what I was doing. Perhaps she has some place in her life where she creates, too. Perhaps not.

I never mind, though, the people who hover around at a knitting night with dreamy smiles on their faces. I imagine (well, some have told me) that they are remembering their mother/aunt/gram who used to knit/crochet/embroider/spin/quilt. I like being part of the continuity of our craft.

I know this post is a bit old, but I found it so interesting I had to comment …
I have a friend that could be easily be called promiscuous. I have always explained her to other people as “she has daddy problems” – it makes me wonder, with all these people complaining about young women today, and how they are objectified and don’t seem to care, maybe it’s society’s fault for not placing the importance on the father’s place – i.e. saying it’s okay not to spend time with your daughters and sons.
